Forest Research Institute
 
One of the finest institutions of its kind in the world, the FRI stands in extensive grounds amongest fine plantations of many species of vegetation.

 
The Institute maintains six museums, covering various disciplines, which are open to the public.
 
Timings : 0930-1300 hrs and 1330-1730 hrs.
 
 
 
Sahastradhara
 
14 kms. Noted for its natural beauty and medicinal waterfalls, Sahastradhara is a very popular picnic and entertainment spot. Connected by regular city bus services. Accommodation facilities include the Tourist Rest House. Dining facilities are also available.
 
 
Lakshman Sidh
 
12 kms. Built in homage to a saint, called Lakshman Sidh, it is also a good picnic spot.
 
 
Lachhiwala
 
13 Kms. A beautiful picnic spot surrounded by lush green forests and a beautiful stream.
 
 
Dak Pathar
 
45 kms. Site of a hydel project, it has been developed into a picnic and recreation centre. Dak Pathar is connected by regular bus services.
 
 
Tapovan
 
It Is about 5 km. from the city bus stand on the Dehradun-Raipur Road. The place is situated amidst beautiful surroundings. It is believed that Dronacharya did penance over here.
 
 
Malsi Deer Park  
This newly developed spot at the foothills of Shivalik is situated about 10 km. from Dehradun, enroute Mussoorie on Diversion road.

A mini-zoo with a children's park and lovely natural surroundings make it an ideal sightseeing cum picnic spot. Refreshment Tea and Snacks are also available.
 
 
 
Kalanga Memorial

Santala Devi Temple
 
It is situated about 15 km. from Dehradun. To reach the temple there is bus facility till Jaitanwala which is about 10 km. One can go by Jeep or light vehicle from Jaitanwala to Punjabi wala which is 2 km. There is a 2 km. trek from Punjabiwala to Santala Devi temple. This beautiful temple is a symbol of religious faith for the local people.
 
 
Chandrabani
 
Chandra Bani (Gautam Kund) is 7 km from Dehradun, but it is situated 2 km. Interior from the Dehradun-Delhi Road. Maharshi Gautam with his wife Ahiliya and his daughter Anjani had worshipped here from 12 yrs. It is a beautiful tourist spot surrounded with Shivalik hills.
 
 
Sai Darbar
 
This temple is situated 8 km. from Clock Tower on Rajpur road. Every year a large number of domestic and foreign tourists visit this temple.
 
 
The Statue of Buddha
The 103 ft. high statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni is there at the Dhe Chen Chokhor Kagyupa Monastery, Clement Town. This statue of lord Buddha is dedicated to H.H.

The Dalai Lama. May this message of love, compassion, kindness and peace spread wide in every nook and corner of the world.

It took almost two years to complete this 103 ft. long statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni. It also comprises of beautiful garden with green grassfield and surrounded by different range of beautiful flowers. There are number of visitors from home & abroad who come here with their family and friends.
